Post or Edit a Final Grade for a Student

You can post or edit a final grade for a course that the student is pursuing. When you post a final grade for the student, the Section name is updated and the Course Status is changed to Complete.

Prerequisites

You must have:

  • Common - Student - View authorization

  • Academics - Student Course - Final Grades - Edit authorization

You must have selected Yes for Require Final Grade Change ReasonClosed Select Yes to require staff members to select a reason when they edit a final grade for a student on the Student Courses. If you select Yes, your institution must also have configured the reasons for final grade changes using the Configuration tile. in the General page (Select the Settings tile > expand Academic Records > select General.)

Access Method

Select the Students tile > select the name in the Students list > expand Academic Records > select the Student Courses tile.

Procedure to Post or Edit a Final Grade for the Student

  1. Select the record and select the Course link.

  2. Select the Final Grades tab.

  3. Specify the following values.

    Course StatusClosed The status of the course. For example, Future, Future (Waitlisted), Future (Reserved), Scheduled, Current, Complete and Dropped.

    Credits AttemptedClosed The total credits or hours attempted by the student in the class section.

    Credits EarnedClosed The number of credits earned by the student to date.

    Date CompletedClosed The date when the item was completed.

    Date Grade PostedClosed The system date when the grade letter was recorded.

    Enrollment Status CreditsClosed The credits or hours used to calculate enrollment status for financial aid purposes. The value cannot be edited for audit courses.

    Enrollment Status HoursClosed The credits or hours used to calculate enrollment status for financial aid purposes. The value cannot be edited for audit courses.

    Hours AttemptedClosed The total credits or hours attempted by the student in the class section.

    Hours EarnedClosed The total hours earned by the student for the course.

    Include in GPA CalculationClosed Indicates the grade will affect the student's GPA.

    Incomplete Grade ReplacedClosed Select the grade that automatically replaces the incomplete grade after the expiration deadline date has passed. If the replacement grade is not configured, the incomplete grade is not automatically replaced past the expiration deadline date. A grade designated as an incomplete and the replacement of an incomplete grade cannot be configured to be an audit, transfer, default drop grade, after LDW grade, or drop grade.

    Letter GradeClosed The letter grade posted for the enrollment. Each letter grade code needs to be unique.

    NoteClosed Area that displays, or that you can use, to specify comments or additional information.

    Numeric GradeClosed The numeric grade posted for the enrollment.

    Pay StatusClosed Indicates if the instructor should be paid.

    Retake OverrideClosed Indicates current retake methodology will be override. This functionality is useful when a course can be repeated many times to satisfy a degree requirement without being considered as a retake.

    SpeedClosed Include information on any custom numeric information, for example, typing speed, rating values, and so on.

    Start DateClosed The first day that the item is effective or can be used.

    TermClosed Available terms with start and end dates for each term.

    Note: For the SAP process to return correct results, all grades must be posted and the Date Completed in the final grades needs to fall on or before the term end date.

  1. If you want to save and: 

    • Continue making changes, select the Save button

    • Close, select the Save & Close button

If you change the value under Letter GradeClosed The letter grade. They are configured by your institution. If your institution has also configured a grade scale for a campus and program versions that contains limits for the numeric grades, Anthology Student can convert number grades into a letter grade. or Numeric GradeClosed The numeric grade. If your institution has configured a grade scale for a campus and program versions that contains limits for the numeric grades, Anthology Student can convert the number grade into a letter grade. and select Save, Anthology Student displays the Final Grade Change dialog box.

Select the ReasonClosed Indicates the reason for changing the final grades for the student. for the grade change and select Save. Anthology Student successfully saves the records.
